Pipe Relining in Morwell & the Latrobe Valley

If you live in an older Morwell home, chances are your sewer and stormwater pipes are terracotta — the earthenware pipes installed across the Latrobe Valley from the 1950s through to the 1980s. Terracotta pipes have joints every metre or so, and tree roots are drawn to the moisture and nutrients inside. Once roots invade the joints, they grow, crack the pipe, and block the line again and again. Traditional drain clearing punches a hole through the roots, but they always grow back. Pipe relining is the permanent fix — and it doesn't require digging up your garden, driveway or bathroom floor.

Pipe relining works by inserting a resin-impregnated liner inside your existing pipe. The liner is inflated against the inner wall of the old pipe and then cured in place — using hot water, steam or UV light — to form a hard, seamless new pipe within the old one. Because the new pipe is joint-free, there are no gaps for tree roots to invade. The relined pipe has a smooth interior that actually improves flow, and the liner comes with a 25–50 year warranty. It's suitable for sewers, stormwater lines, boundary traps and underground pipes from 50mm to 300mm diameter.

At Morwell Plumbing, we've relined kilometres of pipe across Morwell, Traralgon, Moe and the wider Latrobe Valley — from old terracotta sewers beneath established gardens in Traralgon to cracked stormwater lines under driveways in Newborough. We start with a CCTV drain inspection to confirm the pipe is suitable for relining (it needs to be structurally sound enough to support the liner), give you an upfront price, and carry out the work with minimal disruption to your property. Call 03 5141 6015 to find out if pipe relining is the right solution for your recurring drain problems.
